We provide comprehensive logistics support, from the trek’s starting point to above base camp, catering to both private and solo expeditions. Why Choose K2 Expedition & Trekking?
Our deep-rooted expertise, local guides, and over a decade of experience ensure a safe, successful, and smooth expedition to Gasherbrum II.
The name “Gasherbrum” translates to “Shining Wall” in the local Balti language. Gasherbrum II, also known as K4, is the 13th highest mountain on Earth and part of a massif that includes six peaks. Its position near the famed Concordia point offers climbers unparalleled views of towering peaks like K2 and Broad Peak.
The first successful ascent was made on July 8, 1956, by an Austrian expedition led by Fritz Moravec. The climb presents a variety of technical challenges, from navigating the crevassed Gasherbrum Glacier to steep, icy pitches near the summit. Despite these challenges, it is considered more accessible compared to other 8,000-meter peaks, with a Base Camp at 5,200 meters, followed by camps at higher altitudes to support acclimatization and a safe ascent.
We handle all logistics, including acquiring the necessary climbing and trekking permits. For Gasherbrum II, a climbing permit is mandatory. Permits must be arranged in advance, and we recommend booking at least two months prior to your expedition date.
Royalty fees are paid to the Gilgit-Baltistan Government and cover the costs associated with your climbing permit. The fees are non-refundable and must be secured before commencing the expedition.
A mandatory $5,000 USD helicopter rescue bond is required for all expeditions, refundable if unused. We can assist with arranging this through Askari Aviation.
